- Despite its popularity in the exotic pet trade, the Malagasy Rainbow Frog is strictly protected and collecting it from the wild is illegal.
- The Malagasy Rainbow Frog can both burrow underground and climb vertical rock faces using its specialized limbs. Unlike many frogs, it has a very limited breeding season that is closely tied to heavy rains. Its vibrant coloration acts as a warning to predators that it may be toxic.
