- Marbled salamander larvae develop in temporary pools and can survive even when water levels fluctuate dramatically.
- Marbled salamanders are one of the few North American salamanders that breed in the fall rather than the spring. Unlike most salamander species, the female guards her eggs until they are flooded by rains. Their unique coloring helps them blend into the dappled forest floor, offering camouflage from predators.
