Despite being called 'snake eaters,' Markhor are strict herbivores and do not consume snakes.
Markhor are the national animal of Pakistan and are known for their agility in climbing steep cliffs. Their name comes from Persian words meaning 'snake eater,' possibly due to their spiral horns resembling coiled snakes or ancient beliefs about their venom-neutralizing abilities.
