- Milkfish can survive in environments ranging from full seawater to nearly freshwater, making them one of the most adaptable fish in aquaculture.
- Milkfish are sometimes called 'bangus' in the Philippines, where they are the national fish. Unlike many fish, they have a long, forked tail and a nearly toothless mouth adapted for filter feeding. Milkfish are known for their high jumping ability, often leaping out of water when startled.
