- Mole crickets can create 'singing chambers' underground that amplify their calls, making them some of the loudest insects relative to their size.
- Mole crickets are remarkable diggers, able to move through soil with ease thanks to their specialized limbs. Their mating calls, amplified by resonant burrows, can be heard from several meters away. Despite their name and appearance, mole crickets are not closely related to true moles.
