- Despite their small size, Moor Frogs have a highly variable croaking call that can be heard up to several hundred meters away during mating season.
- Male Moor Frogs temporarily turn bright blue during breeding season, a rare phenomenon among European amphibians. They can tolerate mildly brackish water and even survive freezing temperatures by entering a state of torpor.
