Did you know?
- Moss piglets can lose almost all the water in their bodies and remain dormant for decades, reviving once rehydrated.
- Moss piglets can survive extreme conditions by entering a state called cryptobiosis, where their metabolism nearly stops. They are among the few animals known to survive exposure to the vacuum and radiation of outer space. Tardigrades are sometimes called 'water bears' due to their lumbering gait and bear-like appearance.
