- The Mountain Chicken Frog gets its unusual name from its chicken-like taste and popularity as a local dish. It is known for its loud, booming mating calls that can be heard over long distances. Remarkably, females exhibit parental care by feeding their developing tadpoles with unfertilized eggs.
