- The Mountain Nyala was unknown to science until 1910, making it one of the last large African mammals to be scientifically described.
- Mountain Nyala are expert at remaining hidden, often freezing motionless to avoid detection. Unlike most other antelopes, they live at altitudes up to 4,000 meters. The males' spiral horns can reach lengths of over 110 cm.
