- Mourning Geckos have spread across vast regions of the world, often hitching rides on ships and cargo, making them one of the most widespread gecko species.
- Mourning Geckos are almost entirely female and reproduce by parthenogenesis, meaning they don't need males to produce eggs. They are excellent climbers thanks to adhesive toe pads, allowing them to scale smooth surfaces. Their name comes from the Latin 'lugubris,' meaning mournful, though the reason for this is unclear.
