- Naked mole rats can survive up to 18 minutes without oxygen, far longer than most mammals.
- Naked mole rats do not feel certain types of pain, such as pain from acid or capsaicin, due to specialized neural adaptations. They are one of the few mammalian species that exhibit true eusociality, with highly organized colonies. Their cells are uniquely resistant to cancer, making them an important model in medical research.
