- Unlike most frogs, the Northern Cricket Frog overwinters as an adult rather than as a tadpole or juvenile.
- Despite being tiny, Northern Cricket Frogs are exceptional jumpers, often covering distances over three feet in a single leap. They are one of the few North American frogs that do not climb vegetation, spending most of their time at the water's edge. Their coloration can vary greatly, helping them blend into their surroundings and avoid predators.
