Did you know?
- Unlike many salamanders, the Northern Spring Salamander preys on other amphibians, including smaller salamanders and their larvae.
- Northern Spring Salamanders are lungless and breathe entirely through their skin and the lining of their mouth. Their larvae can take up to 5 years to metamorphose into adults, much longer than most salamander species. They are highly sensitive to water pollution, making them important indicators of stream health.
