- Numbats are the only member of the family Myrmecobiidae, making them evolutionarily unique among marsupials.
- Numbats can consume up to 20,000 termites in a single day. Unlike most marsupials, females do not have a pouch; instead, the young cling to the mother’s underside. The numbat is one of only a few marsupials that are strictly diurnal.
