Did you know?
- Despite their zebra-like stripes, okapis are the only living relative of the giraffe and are not closely related to zebras at all.
- Okapis have a long, prehensile tongue that can reach up to 18 inches, allowing them to strip leaves from trees and groom their ears. They were unknown to the western world until the early 20th century. Their unique leg stripes provide camouflage by breaking up their outline in the filtered light of the forest.
