- The Oriental Fire-bellied Toad's skin toxins can cause mild irritation in humans, so it's important to wash hands after handling them.
- When threatened, the Oriental Fire-bellied Toad displays its bright belly by arching its back in a defensive posture called the 'unken reflex.' They secrete mild toxins from their skin, deterring many would-be predators. Despite their name, they are actually frogs, not true toads.
