- Despite living in extreme heat, the Ornate Uromastyx rarely drinks water, obtaining nearly all its moisture from its plant-based diet.
- Ornate Uromastyx can change their skin color slightly to regulate body temperature. They are highly territorial and will use their spiny tails to ward off intruders. These lizards have specialized teeth to eat tough desert plants.
