- Fewer than 1,000 Otterhounds are estimated to exist worldwide, making them rarer than giant pandas.
- Otterhounds were bred specifically for their ability to track scents in water, boasting an extraordinary sense of smell. Their webbed feet make them excellent swimmers, and they have a famously boisterous baying voice. Otterhounds also have a unique, shaggy double coat that protects them in cold, wet environments.
