Pacific halibut can live for more than 50 years, with some individuals documented at over 70 years old.
Pacific halibut can grow to over 2.5 meters (8 feet) in length, making them one of the largest flatfish in the world. They undergo a dramatic transformation during development, where one eye migrates to the other side of the head. These fish can travel hundreds of kilometers between feeding and spawning grounds each year.
