- Despite their aquatic lifestyle, Paddle-tail Newts can survive short periods out of water by absorbing oxygen through their moist skin.
- Paddle-tail Newts can regenerate lost limbs and parts of their tails. During the breeding season, males develop a distinct ridge along their backs and tails to attract females. They are known for their ability to remain aquatic year-round, unlike many other newts that spend part of their life on land.
