- Despite being rodents, Patagonian Maras have long, slender legs and can hop like a rabbit, making their movement quite unique among mammals.
- Patagonian Maras are among the few rodents that are monogamous. They can run at speeds of up to 45 km/h to escape predators and often use communal burrows for raising their young.
