- Peanut worms lack both a true circulatory and respiratory system, relying on diffusion through their body wall for gas exchange.
- Peanut worms can contract their bodies so tightly that they resemble a shelled peanut. Despite their simple appearance, they have a complex digestive system and can regenerate lost body parts. They are considered living fossils, having remained largely unchanged for over 400 million years.
