- This lizard is sometimes called the 'water dragon' due to its remarkable ability to swim, dive, and remain underwater for up to 15 minutes.
- The Philippine sailfin lizard can 'run' upright across the water's surface using its powerful hind legs and long tail. Males develop large, colorful crests and sail-like tails to attract mates and intimidate rivals. Despite their size and dragon-like appearance, they are primarily gentle and shy, often fleeing into water at the first sign of danger.
