- Despite their beautiful plumage, Plush-crested Jays can be quite audacious, often raiding other birds' nests for eggs or chicks.
- Plush-crested Jays are expert mimics, able to imitate the calls of other birds and even some mammals. They are known to cooperate in family groups, helping each other raise young. These jays sometimes cache food in hidden spots to retrieve later, demonstrating impressive memory skills.
