- Proboscis monkeys can swim over 20 meters underwater, making them one of the few primates highly adapted to aquatic life.
- Male proboscis monkeys use their large noses to attract mates and amplify vocalizations; they are excellent swimmers, capable of leaping into rivers to escape predators; their pot-bellied appearance comes from a multi-chambered stomach that helps digest tough, fibrous plant material.
