- Quokkas can breed twice a year and, like other marsupials, can pause embryo development if conditions are unfavorable—a process called embryonic diapause.
- Quokkas are known for their photogenic 'smiles', earning them the nickname 'the world's happiest animal.' They can survive long periods without drinking water, obtaining moisture from their plant-based diet. Quokkas are one of the few marsupials that can climb small trees and shrubs.
