- Despite being endangered, some razorback suckers alive today were hatched before the construction of major Colorado River dams in the 1930s and 1940s.
- Razorback suckers can live for over 40 years, making them one of the longest-lived freshwater fish in North America. Their distinctive 'razorback' ridge is thought to help stabilize them in fast-flowing river currents. They have survived dramatic changes in their river habitats over thousands of years.
