- Red-headed Agamas are so adaptable that they have established populations far outside their native range, including in Florida, USA.
- Male Red-headed Agamas dramatically change color during breeding season, becoming almost fluorescent in appearance. They are skilled climbers, often scaling vertical surfaces like walls and tree trunks. These lizards can drop their tails when threatened, a defense mechanism known as autotomy.
