- Despite their bright color, Red Salamanders are not actually toxic, but their appearance helps them avoid predation through mimicry.
- Red Salamanders have a sticky tongue they use to capture prey quickly. Their vivid coloration may serve as a warning to predators, mimicking the toxic Eastern Newt. Unlike many other salamanders, they remain terrestrial as adults but are closely tied to moist environments.
