- The Redfin pickerel can use rapid sideways lunges to snatch prey in the blink of an eye, thanks to its streamlined body and powerful tail.
- Redfin pickerel can remain motionless for long periods, waiting to ambush prey. Their vivid red fins are most pronounced in adults during the breeding season. Unlike their larger relatives, they remain relatively small throughout their lives.
