- Ringed Caecilian mothers feed their newly hatched young with a special skin that the babies peel and eatβa phenomenon known as maternal dermatotrophy.
- Ringed Caecilians lay eggs that hatch into aquatic larvae, a rare trait among caecilians. They secrete a slimy mucus from their skin for protection. Despite their snake-like appearance, they are more closely related to frogs and salamanders.
