- Rock Barnacles can withstand being out of water for several hours at a time, thanks to their ability to seal in moisture with their tightly closing shells.
- Rock Barnacles cement themselves to rocks using a natural glue that is one of the strongest adhesives known in nature. They are hermaphroditic and capable of cross-fertilization with neighbors by extending long reproductive organs. During low tide, they tightly close their shells to retain moisture and survive until the water returns.
