- The Rock Ptarmigan is the official bird of Nunavut, Canada, and was featured on the Icelandic one-króna coin.
- Rock Ptarmigans have feathered toes and legs to help them walk on snow and keep warm. Their plumage changes color with the seasons, providing excellent camouflage year-round. Males use distinctive croaking calls and aerial displays to attract mates during the breeding season.
