- The Rough Knob-tailed Gecko is the largest knob-tailed gecko species, with some individuals reaching over 14 centimeters in length.
- Unlike most geckos, the Rough Knob-tailed Gecko cannot climb smooth surfaces due to the lack of adhesive toe pads. Its tail, which resembles a small club, is used for defense and distraction against predators. When threatened, it may emit barks or squeaks, an unusual behavior among geckos.
