- Despite their tiny size, Ruby-throated Hummingbirds can migrate nonstop across the Gulf of Mexico, flying over 800 kilometers without resting.
- Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are the only hummingbird species that regularly breed in eastern North America. They consume up to half their body weight in nectar and insects each day and are capable of beating their wings more than 3,000 times per minute during courtship displays.
