- Despite their reputation for luxurious fur, sables are rarely seen in the wild due to their secretive and nocturnal lifestyle.
- Sable fur was once considered so valuable that it was used as currency in medieval Russia. Sables can travel up to 12 kilometers a day in search of food and have a keen sense of smell that helps them locate prey under snow.
