- Despite their peaceful reputation, Sailfin Tangs have sharp, scalpel-like spines on their tails that they use for defense and to establish dominance.
- Sailfin Tangs can rapidly change the intensity of their coloration when stressed or threatened. Their extended fins make them appear much larger to potential predators, serving as an effective defense mechanism.
