- A saltwater crocodile can leap its entire body length out of the water to catch prey on low-hanging branches.
- It has the strongest bite ever measured in a living animal — yet its jaw-opening muscles are so weak that tape can hold its mouth shut. It crosses open ocean by surfing surface currents, waiting for a favourable tide rather than swimming. Salt glands on its tongue let it survive at sea. The death roll exists because a crocodile cannot chew — it has to tear pieces off.
