- This salamander does not go through a fully aquatic larval stage like many other amphibians; its young resemble miniature adults soon after hatching.
- The Sardinian Brook Salamander is one of only a few salamander species native to Mediterranean islands. It can breathe both through its skin and lungs, which is advantageous in its aquatic habitat. During dry periods, it may hide under rocks or in crevices to conserve moisture.
