- Despite its fearsome name, the Satanic leaf-tailed gecko is completely harmless and relies solely on camouflage for defense.
- The Satanic leaf-tailed gecko can flatten its body and tail against a branch or leaf to avoid detection by predators. Its tail often resembles a decaying, nibbled leaf, complete with notches and coloration that change with age. Unlike many geckos, it lacks eyelids and cleans its eyes with its tongue.
