- The Savannah Monitor can consume animals with hard shells, such as snails and beetles, thanks to its powerful jaws and specialized teeth.
- Savannah Monitors have a forked tongue similar to snakes, which they use to sense chemicals in their environment. They can inflate their bodies to appear larger when threatened. Despite their tough appearance, they are vulnerable to dehydration and require access to water.
