- Scarlet Macaws can mimic human speech and sounds, making them popular (but challenging) pets.
- Scarlet Macaws are known for their loud, raucous calls that can be heard over long distances in the forest. They form strong monogamous pairs and often mate for life. These macaws use clay licks along riverbanks to neutralize toxins found in some of the seeds and fruits they eat.
