- A serval can jump up to 3 meters high from a standstill to catch prey in midair.
- It has the largest ears relative to its head of any cat, and hunts by sound — locating rodents it cannot see beneath tall grass. It then pounces in a high arc, landing on prey it never laid eyes on. It succeeds on roughly half its hunts, far more often than a lion or leopard. Its legs are the longest of any cat in proportion to its body.
