- Despite their vivid coloration, Shoemaker Butterflies spend much of their time in the shaded understory, making them difficult to spot in the wild.
- Shoemaker Butterflies are named after the supposed resemblance of their wing spots to the tools of cobblers. Their larvae feed on plants from the Euphorbiaceae family, and adults are often seen feeding on decaying fruit rather than flowers.
