- This species was once considered extinct until it was rediscovered in 2015 after not being seen for over 15 years.
- The Short-nosed Sea Snake gives birth to live young directly in the water. It is one of only a handful of sea snake species with such a highly restricted range. Its short snout gives it a unique appearance compared to other sea snakes.
