- Male Siamese fighting fish will fiercely fight other males, sometimes to the death, which is how they earned their name.
- Siamese fighting fish can recognize their owners and be trained to perform simple tricks. Males build elaborate bubble nests at the water's surface for breeding. Their vibrant colors and long fins are the result of centuries of selective breeding.
