There are fewer than 4,000 Siberian Cranes left in the wild, with the western population numbering less than 20 individuals.
Siberian Cranes perform elaborate dances involving leaps and bows, which help strengthen pair bonds. They are among the most aquatic of all cranes, often wading and feeding in deep water. Their migration route includes the longest known distance for any crane species, spanning up to 5,000 kilometers.
