- The musk gland secretion from male Siberian Musk Deer is so prized that it has led to extensive poaching, threatening the species' survival.
- Siberian Musk Deer males have prominent tusks instead of antlers, which is unusual among deer relatives. The musk produced by males is one of the most valuable animal products and has been worth more than its weight in gold. Despite their tiny size, these deer are excellent jumpers, able to leap significant distances to escape predators or obstacles.
