- Silver Arowanas can jump up to 2 meters (over 6 feet) out of the water to catch insects and even small birds from overhanging branches.
- The Silver Arowana is sometimes called the 'monkey fish' because of its ability to leap out of the water to catch prey. Males carry fertilized eggs in their mouths for protection until the young are ready to swim. This fish has primitive, bony tongues lined with teeth, a feature rare among modern fish.
