- Unlike most frogs, Smooth Guardian Frogs do not lay their eggs directly in water—males guard eggs on land and later transport the tadpoles to water sources.
- Male Smooth Guardian Frogs exhibit rare parental care by carrying tadpoles on their backs. Their smooth skin helps them avoid dehydration in leaf litter environments. They often call at night, making a distinctive series of chirps.
